Lawyer me?

So, this woman comes up to you and tells you that her hubby owes this company super alot of money and now Mr. Co wants his money but Mr. Hubby can't cough it up.
Mr. Co decides to seize Mr. Hubby's and Mrs. Wife's property, sell it and get his cash. Okay, thing it Mrs. Wife has huge collection of antiques which she inherited and she's afraid Mr. Co will take that away from her.
Mrs. Wife now asks you, "So how?" =(

Nope, this is not a Property Law examination.. It's the lawyer, which I'm attached with's client. Using my lawyer's draft as a guide, I am to type out an injuction to stop Mr.Co from seizing ppty belonging to Mrs. Wife.
What's an injunction? Don't know but coolness right...

Okay, here goes my sob story of how I didn't want to read law but having a Chinaman for a father and obeying the 5th Commandment I studied law convincing myself that I would NEVER practice. Goodbye to the CLP and the BVC.

And then tell dad I'm holidaying when he asks me to go to Uncle Gideon's (dad's lawyer friend). When there's only 3 weeks left before I leave, gave the green light to dad and said, "Only 2 weeks cuz I hafta pack" *sigh* (excuses, excuses).
And does my plan backfire? Like duH ! I'm actually enjoying myself?!?!
Yes I am.. unfortunately? Not really cuz even though I do not plan to practice, at least I've dipped my toes into the legal world.

I started yesterday.
Met Uncle Gideon and he asks, "What do you want to do?".
I could choose to either:
do conveyancing (sit down in front of comp, draw out Sale and Purchase Agreement, meet client, sign agreement, go to the Stamp Office, fax letters, file documents, blah blah blah...)
or litigation (translate affidavits, draft injunctions, do research, stay back in the office till wee hours in the morning, go to court, hush hush hush...).
And being me, I tend to get myself into 'trouble' ie wanna be different, don't wanna play safe.
So I told Uncle Gideon, "Litigation".
He nods head and says, "Good, it will be exciting from here onwards.
And I'm thinking, "S**t, s**t, s**t, I'm so dead".
He continues, "The next 2 weeks are p&c".
My turn to nod head.
Thus, I will not be able to yackety-yack about those 'exciting cases' going on right now.

I was then given an affidavit which I had to translate it into BM. BM?? I can't even say one proper sentence !! Oooh, trouble has begun...
Huge English legal terms dictionary --> BM on my left, an Oxford English dictionary --> BM on my right and an 8 page affidavit on my lap...
Okay, START !

Continued translating today, finished it, printed it and putted?? it on lawyer's desk. Did some research on the 'up coming' case I mentioned above; research = look for previously decided cases and Statutes to support arguments, just like in the exams, only.. answers starring right at ya ;P
Will meet Mr. Hubby tomorrow when he comes to sign the injunction form in the morning.
I wish I could tell you more but you never know who might be reading this.
*discretion discretion*

Hhmmm.. of all the jobs I've had, the proper 'working in an office' environment is what I find myself liking most.
The bad thing is though, a litigator can only wear black and white (note: it ain't and/or) ie white top + black pants/skirt + black jacket/blazer + see-no-toe black shoes or black (printstripe, if you were me ;P) dress + black jacket/blazer + see-no-toe black shoes. And this is the only way one can wear it. Cuz litigators go to court. *chokes*
On the days where you are court-free, you can wear whatever lerr.. However, observation tells me some litigators tend to get so lazy with colours that they stick to the boring b&w.

Yoong pities me.. I pity me too =(
So it's buh-bye to boring b&w and hello colourful world in 3 weeks time.

Ciaozz babes, me bed'z calling.
